Facility

Agri-Industrial Plastics Company (AIP) is located in the town of Fairfield, Iowa…(see map). The 142,000 sq. foot facility consists of offices, multiple production areas, warehouse space, and 17 loading docks. The metal frame building is equipped with a substantial sprinkler system designed to provide fire resistance. Throughout the plant, we maintain wide isle ways and generous spacing between machine centers. The spacious layout allows freedom for material movement and easy access to each machine. At AIP we pride ourselves on excellent housekeeping practices not only to provide a pleasant working environment for our employees, but also to maximize productivity for our customers.

At AIP our commitment to creating the highest quality blow molded products starts with using high quality production equipment. Our state-of-the-art production machines are made by Kautex - the world leader of industrial blow molding machines.

AIP currently has 20 accumulator head blow molding machines with the capabilities to produce products in a wide range of sizes, weights, and designs.

  • Shot size 6 to 100 pounds
  • Part size up to 35” diameter
  • Panel size up to 48” wide and 96” long

All of the blow molding machines at AIP are equipped with:

  • Microprocessor controls
  • Accumulator head design
  • Parison programming

In addition to the 20 accumulator head blow molding machines, in 2005 we installed a new Kautex continuous extrusion blow molding machine. The new machine will have the ability to mold products such as fuel tanks with 6 layer walls. The new machine uses proven technology and will be capable of producing tanks ranging in size from 5 to 25 gallons. This most recent investment in Kautex technology will position AIP to serve customers specifically impacted by the new EPA gas tank standards for ATV’s, snowmobiles, lawn mowers, and wave runners. Auxiliary Machines

At AIP, the production of high quality, consistent parts goes beyond the blow molding machine to the auxiliary equipment required to complete the product per the customer specifications. We have an experienced set up team that evaluates the production requirements and integrates the necessary auxiliary equipment. The auxiliary equipment is dedicated to the specific product, creating a closed loop system to ensure the highest quality standards during the production process.

At AIP we continue to invest in technology and automation in order to better serve our customers. Automation in production allows us to:

  • Reduce manufacturing costs
  • Improve product quality
  • Increase manufacturing flexibility
  • Improve time to market
  • Increase productivity

Some of the auxiliary equipment involved with the post – molding process at AIP includes:

  • 5 Axis CNC Routers for machining and trimming
  • Faro Arm CMM for precise measurements
  • Dedicated Finishing Fixtures

Quality

At Agri-Industrial Plastics Company (AIP) quality starts with experience: in the plastics industry, in engineering, in production, and in delivery. Our employees have an average of 10 years experience in plastics blow molding. More importantly, each employee takes pride and ownership in producing the highest quality products for our customers.

At the onset of each project, our experts from engineering, production, and quality control work closely with the customer to establish and document quality standards. The defined standards are then used as the baseline to guarantee each product is made consistently within specifications. Once in production, AIP continually evaluates performance and looks for ways to improve the process.

At AIP we build quality into each stage of the process from design through delivery. We rely on the experience of our employees to monitor quality at each stage. For example, at the production work site, each employee assumes ownership of the product from taking the part off the machine, to performing all the auxiliary services on that part from trimming, to testing, to adding assembly parts, to packing the box for shipment. Our competent production team knows what it takes to produce high quality products and to consistently meet customer requirements.

At AIP we have a dedicated quality control team charged with monitoring, managing, and improving quality at every step of the blow molding process. The results of our quality control processes are recorded and reviewed with the customer to make sure that their specifications and requirements are consistently being met. In order to do their job effectively the quality control team at AIP employs a variety of tools and methodologies:

  • Define and recommend certified spec materials
  • Utilize microprocessor controls to manage consistency
  • Utilize microprocessor controls to record quality and productivity data
  • Use closed loop material feeding system
  • Dedicate auxiliary equipment per station to create a closed loop system
  • Conduct testing in-house and through outside parties periodically as defined by customer requirements
  • Place ownership for part quality on each employee
